Los Alamos County community development staff told the Planning & Zoning Commission on Nov. 5 that the request for proposals for the comprehensive-plan update will close next Friday. Staff said they hope to select and contract with a consultant by December and to kick off the public process in 2026, aiming for adoption by December 2026.
The chair polled commissioners for interest in serving on the three-member working group for the plan; several commissioners expressed willingness to participate and the chair said she will review commissioners’ terms and bring specifics to the next meeting. Staff described the update as approximately a year-long commitment for working-group participants.
The announcement followed the variance hearings and was presented by community development staff as part of the department report. No formal action was taken beyond the staff update and the chair’s poll of interest.
