Council authorizes Water Trust Board applications and assigns signatory authority for wastewater loan

Los Alamos County Council on Sept. 9 authorized submission of 2026 Water Trust Board applications for two water-system projects and adopted a companion resolution assigning signatory authority for the NMED Rural Infrastructure Program loan.
Utilities staff said the county will apply for about $1.28 million to repaint Pareto Tank 4A, which primarily serves Los Alamos National Laboratory, and for funding to replace roughly 5,000 feet of transmission main on Pareto Road. Staff said applications are due this week and awards would be announced in February, with work scheduled for 2027 if successful.
Council adopted Resolution No. 25-20 authorizing the chair or the county utilities manager to submit completed applications and necessary documents to the Water Trust Board. Separately, council adopted Resolution No. 25-19 assigning signatory authority for the NMED loan agreement (RIP-00073) to the county council chair or utilities manager and delegating administrative reimbursement duties to finance staff.
Both actions passed unanimously 6-0 with one absent.
