The Fullerton School District’s independent auditors, Nigro & Nigro, presented the district and bond audit reports to the board on Jan. 20 and issued unmodified (clean) opinions for both the district financial statements and the bond fund (fund 21).
Jessica Miller, partner at Nigro & Nigro, walked trustees through the audit cycle — site visits, interim controls testing, year‑end financial testing and compliance reviews — and told the board there were no reportable findings in this year’s district audit. She described required sections of the report, including the opinion letter, management’s discussion and analysis, financial statements, notes, schedules and required compliance letters under government auditing standards.
On the bond audit, Miller said auditors focused on allowability of expenditures under ballot language, contract testing and public‑contract code compliance; that report also received an unmodified opinion. Board members asked whether bond audits are annual; the auditor confirmed they are performed annually.
Board President and trustees thanked staff for producing a clean audit, and district leaders credited the finance and accounting teams for rigorous controls and documentation.
What happens next: The auditor’s reports will remain part of the public record; staff will continue standard financial reporting and recommended best practices described in the management comments.
