Dundee staff outline 5–6 month process for mural standards, council open to pursuing funded program

He said the Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) notice requirement means the earliest realistic timeline is about 5–6 months, with an estimated planning cost between $10,000 and $15,000 for staff time.
Councilors and members of the public discussed funding. Gail Mayterson, who said she initially proposed mural work, reported that a member of the tourism board (Ted Crawford) offered funds and that about $300,000 in the tourism‑board budget might be available to support a program. Staff noted other possible sources, including a pending T‑Mobile grant application for a mural series; staff suggested grant funding would reduce the burden on planning funds.
Council indicated general support to evaluate a mural program provided it can be financed without exceeding current planning‑service budgets and staff capacity. Doug recommended the council provide direction to the interim city administrator about how they would like to proceed so staff can finalize a scope and schedule for hearings and DLCD notice.
