At the start of the item the chair recapped conversations with Jensen Strategies and noted Jensen’s unwillingness to reduce its standard pricing. Council members said the two proposals differed in price and approach. Speaker 1 described Jensen’s package and said he had also spoken with the mayor and firm representatives about prior local recruitments; Speaker 1 noted both the difference in price and the challenge of a “one-size-fits-all” recruitment product for smaller cities.
The council made a motion to authorize the interim city administrator to enter into a contract for executive recruitment and to allow the interim to sign the agreement. The motion was seconded and carried. During the discussion a figure of $80,500 was mentioned as the price associated with the selected approach; members also discussed the option of hiring a different firm if a more tailored and less costly proposal could be negotiated.
The motion authorizes the interim city administrator to finalize the recruitment contract; staff will return with any contract documents and cost details as available.
