Augusta County approves infrastructure funding for volunteer fire stations

The Augusta County Board of Supervisors approved two infrastructure funding requests for local volunteer fire companies: $15,000 to close out a completed paving job in front of a station and a flooring project to repair and epoxy apparatus-bay floors at the Weiers Cave volunteer fire department.
County staff described the paving work as completed and needed to settle a remaining balance; the board authorized $15,000 from infrastructure accounts split (reported in the meeting as $10,000 from one area, $5,000 from another). A supervisor also volunteered an additional $5,000 contribution from a district infrastructure allocation.
Separately, staff presented a proposal from a flooring contractor for $89,964 for concrete repair and an epoxy coating at Weiers Cave. Supervisors moved to approve the request and one member offered $10,000 from his infrastructure allocation to reduce the county share. The board approved the flooring funding as amended; the chair recorded a unanimous 7–0 vote on both items.
County leaders thanked the volunteer departments and noted that some contractors had contributed donated work. Staff will document the funds and return with any necessary implementation steps.
