Facilities and operations staff reported progress and recent remedial work across multiple projects in the district.
Frank, who leads facilities updates for the district, said a final inspection at Elbert Elementary before the holiday break found issues with a rubber roof over the kitchen that required removing the roof. "We made the contractor tear the roof off. All that's been completed," he told the board, and a follow-up final inspection is scheduled for Jan. 22.
Frank summarized multiple projects: classroom slabs at Alberta Middle are poured and trusses are being set, with one remaining slab for the gym; Daphne High and Daphne North are progressing; Jubilee is on schedule for a possible July completion if timelines hold; Loxley’s final looks likely in March; and the early learning academy plans are ready to bid. He also described progress on the transportation bays and a roughly 24,000-square-foot slab poured on the south side of the transportation building.
Board members asked about occupancy timing for new schools; Frank said staff expect to wait until summer to move into the new Loxley facility rather than mid-school year. The facilities update was delivered as information: no construction contracts or approvals were moved in this work session.
