Falls Church assigns temporary school resource officer; two new officers joining department

City staff announced that Corporal Fishley (Officer Lance) will take a temporary assignment as the school resource officer for the remainder of the school year and will be joined in that post by K-9 Officer Farrow. Staff said the department has two new officers starting this week and two additional candidates in the pipeline.
Councilmembers noted the importance of filling the SRO role and the department’s recent progress on recruitment. Staff said they will update the council at a subsequent meeting and the police chief is expected to attend the Jan. 12 meeting to discuss public-safety items in greater detail.
What’s next: The police chief is scheduled to brief the council at the Jan. 12 meeting where the council may present a proclamation for law enforcement appreciation day.
