Daphne volunteer announces veterans memorial bricks are on sale; board hears public comment

Fletcher Comer of Daphne High School told the Baldwin County Public Schools board that bricks for a veterans memorial planned for the front of Daphne High School are now available for purchase.
Comer apologized for a delayed update and said the bricks went on sale on the school’s webpage and Facebook. He said Baldwin County helped with fundraising outreach and local outlets including Gold Coast Media and WKRG have covered the project. Comer said 8 to 10 veterans groups are scheduled to meet the project team on Jan. 8 to review the site.
Comer described the bricks ($40 each), saying buyers get three lines of up to 20 characters per line and that the bricks will be installed near six granite benches — one for each branch of the armed services — and adjacent to a black granite hexagon that will mirror a sister stone at Battleship Park. "Bricks are now for sale," Comer said, adding that the project is intended to honor veterans "anywhere who has a veteran they would like to honor."
Board members thanked Comer for the project. The public comment was informational only; the board did not vote or take formal action on the memorial during the meeting.
