Police report: traffic-enforcement grant in use; officer resigns, department recruiting
Summary
The police chief reported December public-safety activity and said traffic-enforcement overtime is funded by a traffic grant. The department announced Officer Tyler Lee’s resignation and scheduled a physical-ability exam to recruit a replacement.
Chief Jenkins (police presenter) reported department activity for December: five wrecks, 34 incident reports, 112 municipal-court cases (91 traffic), 10 arrests, 134 traffic warnings and 10 felony cases; he said 256 court cases and 295 contacts were recorded overall. He described code-enforcement citation activity after repeated notices to property owners.
Jenkins said the department participates in a traffic-enforcement program that uses grant-funded overtime; officers are required to make a number of contacts per hour as part of the funded program and the department will continue to participate while funding is available.
Jenkins also announced the resignation of Officer Tyler Lee, who left to pursue a different career path. To fill the vacancy the department will run a physical-ability (PT) exam this coming Saturday; successful candidates will be invited to continue in the hiring process.
