Staff referenced the commission bylaws that allow a member to serve until resignation or until the seat is declared vacant and described the advertising requirements: post notice on the City of Texarkana website and send notice via United States Postal Service to restaurants and hotels within the city. The bylaws state the vacancy shall be filled by nomination of the remaining commission members and approval by the city council.
The chair formally declared the vacancy during the meeting. Staff indicated they would follow the bylaws’ advertising and nomination procedures and forward nominations to the council for final approval.
