AMP Commission declines marketing contract extension; vendor warns transition could take months

The AMP Commission discussed a proposed extension of its marketing-services contract, including website content ownership, hosting and a tentative July go-live, but a motion to extend the contract through December failed.

Vendor representatives reviewed the website work, explaining that the team had pulled business listings from the prior site and maintained a punch list for final items. The vendor stated, "Any content that we've created for y'all belongs to y'all including photography." They said remaining items included verifying business contact information and completing final updates; they said they were hoping to go live in July.

Commissioners asked what would happen to hosting and domains if the contract were not renewed. The vendor said they would continue to bill and host the site if the commission wanted that, but hosting and domain costs would need to be addressed. Staff and vendor representatives warned that finding and onboarding a new firm would take months.

The chair entertained a motion to approve a contract extension through December; a motion and second were recorded. Roll call votes were Holmes — Yes; Wright — Yes; Dotson — Yes; Hollybush — No. The chair announced the motion failed because the extension did not receive the required four votes.

No replacement contract award or alternate path was decided at the meeting; staff were asked to coordinate the punch list and follow up on hosting and the remaining site work.
