Granville Village Council on Monday introduced an ordinance authorizing the village manager to execute a contract to sell water to the Village of Alexandria and scheduled a public hearing for Jan. 7, 2026.
Council also adopted Resolution 2025‑56 to authorize a one‑year amendment to the water sale contract with Owens 20 Sales LLC. Staff described the extension as a short‑term measure to allow contract language revisions before a longer multi‑year commitment; officials said Owens indicated renewed internal interest and that a three‑year term may make sense once merger questions are resolved.
A staff member said meters at the point of delivery measure volume and that distribution inside Alexandria would remain its responsibility. Council discussed operational mechanics, meters and how additional customers could be accommodated in future agreements.
The ordinance introduction sets a public hearing on Jan. 7, and no final contract vote on the Alexandria sale was recorded at the meeting. The Owens extension passed by voice vote as an annual housekeeping action.
