A motion to approve spending the additional funds for the saplings was made by a board member and seconded; the board then approved the purchase by roll-call vote (recorded as 10–0). Staff noted the city of Kettering is ordering 500 trees in the same sale and can accommodate Huber Heights’ order.
Chair also announced the city was officially accepted as a Tree City USA community about a month earlier. Next practical steps include placing the nursery order when the county sale opens in January to ensure delivery for the April distribution event.
