Huber Heights BZA elects Eva Newby chair, names Robert Dean vice chair; Gregory Mock sworn in

The City of Huber Heights Board of Zoning Appeals reorganized its leadership at a Jan. 7 meeting, naming Eva Newby as chair and Robert Dean as vice chair for 2026 and swearing in Gregory Mock.
The board opened nominations for chair; an unnamed member nominated Eva Newby and a second was recorded. Newby accepted the nomination, saying, "I accept it." The board then polled members; Miss Ballard, Mister Mach, Mister Schaefer and Miss Newby recorded 'yes' votes and the nomination carried.
For vice chair, a board member nominated Robert Dean; the nomination was accepted on Dean's behalf (he was not present) and approved by the members present. After the elections the board administered an oath of office. Gregory Mock raised his right hand and recited an oath to support the U.S. and Ohio constitutions, the city charter and ordinances and to "faithfully, honestly and impartially discharge the duties of my office." Members welcomed Mock and collected required signatures.
Earlier in the meeting the secretary called the roll (Dean excused) and the board approved minutes from the Nov. 12, 2025 meeting after seeing no corrections. A motion to approve the Jan. 7 agenda carried and the board proceeded to new business.
The meeting recessed into regular business after the organizational items. The board noted its next scheduled meeting is Feb. 4 and adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
