Summary
Finance requested council add $21,638.15 for fire equipment (Firehouse Subs grant), $348,695 to reconcile TIF payments to schools (payments already made), and $20,475.57 in law-enforcement training grant funds; staff asked council to allow readings and approval at Monday's meeting.
Finance Director Jim Bell asked council on Dec. 2 to approve three supplemental appropriations before year end. He said $21,638.15 would be added to the fire-equipment line to match a Firehouse Subs grant, $20,475.57 will be placed in the law-enforcement assistance grant fund for police training expenses, and a $348,695 increase is needed to account for TIF-related payments to local schools that the city had already disbursed.
"We've already paid those," Bell told council about the school payments and asked that council retroactively approve the budget adjustments so financial records match transactions. Council members asked for a summary of total TIF distributions to Huber Schools for 2025; Bell committed to provide the detailed totals to council ahead of Monday's meeting. By unanimous non-objection, council agreed to move readings and approval to the Monday council agenda.
