Banner County commissioners make several administrative appointments, adopt routine resolutions

During its Jan. 8 meeting, the Banner County Board of Commissioners carried a set of administrative items and personnel appointments.

The board adopted Resolution 26-09 appointing the county highway superintendent (resolution text read into the record). It also adopted Resolution 26-07 appointing the county weed superintendent for 2026. A package of routine financial and administrative resolutions (26-01 through 26-06) — covering the treasurer’s authority to invest surplus funds, the county’s insufficient-warrant registration rate, petty-cash limits, access to financial information for elected/appointed officers, and the county indigent burial limit (held at $1,500 per incident) — was moved and seconded as a group and advanced for roll-call.

The board also approved declaring a 1992 Lode King belly-dump truck (unit #49205) surplus and directed staff to list the unit for public auction on Purple Wave. Several committee appointment slots were presented; some slate appointments were approved while others were tabled until the Jan. 20 meeting so commissioners can confirm incumbents and potential lay members.

Public comment included a request from Pauline Schoemaker to add a transit discussion (Kimball County Transit System) to a future meeting agenda; the clerk agreed to place the item on a future agenda.

Next steps: staff will finalize appointment paperwork and publish the surplus auction listing; committee appointments not finalized will be revisited at the Jan. 20 meeting.
