Following an executive session under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A §21(a)(2), the North Middlesex Regional School Committee took a public vote on Jan. 13 to extend Superintendent Brad Morgan’s contract through June 30, 2030.
Committee members said the contract keeps the previous compensation cadence (3% per year) and includes changes to performance evaluation language that allow for a composite evaluation compiled from individual member feedback, and an option to move to a biennial evaluation after the first contract year. The contract also revised vacation and bereavement provisions: up to five unused vacation days may be carried forward one year (and then must be used or are forfeited), and bereavement leave language was broadened to allow non-consecutive days and to include immediate family as defined in the contract.
A motion to accept the document was made and seconded; the committee conducted a roll-call vote recorded in the meeting minutes. The majority approved the extension; roll-call results recorded 'No' votes by Carla Lima and Randy Rush and recorded yes votes from multiple other members (see official minutes for the full roll-call transcript). The contract will be signed by the chair and the superintendent and placed in the personnel file, with individual evaluative feedback retained privately by committee members as allowed under M.G.L. c.30A §22(e).
Provenance: Executive session and reconvened public discussion and roll-call vote on the superintendent contract are in the transcript (executive session motion and subsequent discussion).
