Summary
Dr. Lucy Green reviewed the history and partnerships of Moody Support, praised Lowndes County's ongoing cooperation with Moody Air Force Base, and announced retired Colonel John Eunice as the new executive director while she will remain a consultant.
Dr. Lucy Green, longtime consultant and leader in local efforts to support Moody Air Force Base, briefed the Lowndes County Commission on the group's history and recent accomplishments and announced a leadership transition: Colonel (Ret.) John Eunice has accepted the role of executive director of Moody Support while Dr. Green said she will continue as a consultant.
Green detailed the formation of Moody Support in 1991 after a base closure threat and described intergovernmental projects with the base, including a water/wastewater agreement and a blanket infrastructure agreement recently interpreted to include vehicle support and repair. She credited county and city leaders, including Chair Bill Slaughter and county manager Paige Dukes, for long-term collaboration and described national-level presentations Lowndes County officials have given as a model for base-community projects.
The commission recognized volunteers and longtime members. Green emphasized Moody Air Force Base's operational importance — noting the base hosts rescue, fighter and air-ground operations wings — and said recent MILCON construction puts the base "in good shape now." The board did not take formal action beyond the recognition and the announcement of the executive director appointment.
Dr. Green distributed a small handout and a military challenge coin from Parker's collection and asked the board to continue partnership support for Moody Support's activities.
