The St. Charles CUSD 303 Board of Education voted to approve most items on the consent agenda during its Jan. 12 meeting and later voted separately on a pulled finance item.
Board members moved to approve consent agenda items 4A–4I and 4K–4R; the motion was seconded and passed. The chair then asked for a separate motion on item 4J, the designation of depositories, which had been removed from consent because a board member needed to recuse herself. The board motion to approve item 4J was seconded and the roll call showed two abstentions; the motion passed with four yes votes and two abstentions recorded. (Roll calls were taken by Miss Marsanne.)
Separately, the board moved to adjourn to closed session to discuss student disciplinary cases and the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees; the motion passed 6–0 and closed session began at 6:52 p.m.
What was recorded in the meeting: the consent actions were approved during the open meeting; the pulled finance item (designation of depositories) passed with abstentions and no further public detail about the depository decision was provided on the record. No contracts, ordinance numbers or budget amendments tied to these votes were discussed in the public portion of the meeting.
