Manatee County Fair board previews centennial celebration; Bradenton council invited to opening day

Representatives of the Manatee County Fair told the City of Bradenton City Council on Jan. 14 they are celebrating the fair’s more than century‑long history and invited residents to opening day.
Fair presenters highlighted this year’s theme, sponsorship levels and a sizable youth presence: staff said about 534 4‑H and FFA youth are registered to show roughly 779 animals and 233 plant exhibits. The organization noted the fair marks the association’s 110th anniversary and emphasized volunteer and sponsor support (23 gold, 19 silver and 18 bronze sponsors plus in‑kind contributors).
Open day is Jan. 15 and will be free to all attendees, the presenters said. Special events scheduled during the run include a veterans tribute, student free day on Jan. 19, the steers sale on Jan. 17, a plant sale following that sale and a swine sale on Jan. 24. The fair will host local entertainment acts, a baby pageant and family competitions such as corn dog and donut‑eating contests. The fair director urged attendees to bring canned goods to support the Manatee County Food Bank during the veterans tribute night.
Council members thanked the fair representatives and encouraged residents to attend. The mayor said the fair information will be posted later the same day on the city channels so residents can review schedules and vendors.
