Residents urge Hanover Park to take stance on ICE, oppose streaming-services tax

Two residents used the public-comment portion of the Village of Hanover Park meeting to press the board on separate community concerns.
A five-minute speaker introduced in the agenda as Bridal Runyon urged the board to classify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a domestic terrorist organization and proposed multi-town hall coordination and wider action. The speaker said masked agents had carried out violent operations and that local law enforcement was not sufficiently protecting residents, and argued a formal resolution might be appropriate even if an ordinance would not be legally possible at the village level.
Another resident who identified herself as Grace spoke against a proposed tax on streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Spotify. Grace said the tax would be regressive because every subscriber would pay the same amount regardless of income and that the added cost would disproportionately affect seniors, fixed-income households and young families. She urged the board to seek other budget solutions so residents would not bear additional day-to-day costs.
Both comments were part of the town-hall/public-comment agenda item; neither item resulted in board action during the meeting. The board proceeded to regular business after public comment.
