Community Development committee schedules dozens of condemnation hearings, moves demolition timelines

The Terrebonne Parish Community Development Planning Committee moved multiple condemnation hearings and updated a demolition deadline for a residential mobile home.
The committee voted to amend a condemnation order adopted previously for a mobile home and accessory structure at 152 Klondike Road, changing the demolition completion date from Dec. 14, 2025 to March 14, 2026. The motion to amend was moved by Steve Harding and seconded; the committee recorded seven ayes and the motion passed.
Committee members then called numerous condemnation hearings for properties across Houma, Gibson, Chauvin, Thibodaux, Dulac and other communities and scheduled public hearings on several zoning and ordinance amendments for Jan. 28, 2026 (e.g., deposit-fee exemption for public property use permits) and Feb. 25, 2026 (rezoning request for properties on Diaspora Street filed by Terrebonne Ministerial Alliances Inc.).
The committee also introduced an ordinance authorizing the parish to acquire Lot 14, Block 33 of Broadmoor Subdivision and asked staff to confirm whether the landowner was comfortable with the appraised value; staff said they would follow up with the landowner and report back.
Most motions carried as recorded; the committee scheduled the condemnation hearing for 120 Carlos Street for Jan. 27, 2027, and set multiple other hearings and ordinances for Jan. 28, 2026.
