Council approves routine resolutions, tables large budget ordinance for further review

The Terrebonne Parish Budget & Finance Committee approved multiple routine resolutions and took one notable procedural action to delay a large budget amendment.
The committee moved and approved renewal of ESRI geographic information system licensing for 2026 and declared various computer equipment and office items surplus. Members also approved the purchase of a 2027 Freightliner cab and chassis and a 4,500-gallon fuel tank system via a cooperative purchase agreement with Jefferson Parish. Recorded votes where shown were unanimous (8–0).
On a more consequential item, an ordinance to amend the 2026 operating budget and five‑year capital outlay to include Series 2025 sales tax bonds totaling $25,964,089 was introduced. Clyde Hamner moved a substitute motion to table the ordinance until the next Budget & Finance meeting so members could review allocations and consult with staff; the substitute motion passed 8–0.
Several smaller capital amendments and public hearings were also set for Jan. 28, 2026, including $10,000 for Shady Oaks Park and $27,763 for civic center upgrades, and a donation of a small parcel on Verrett Street was accepted for placement on the public hearing calendar.
