The Glens Falls Board of Public Safety approved permits on Jan. 14 for a series of spring and summer community events, while making at least two approvals conditional on updated certificates of insurance.
Speaker 2 introduced and the board approved a conditional permit for the Kiwanis/Zonta arts, crafts and curiosities fair scheduled for May 9, 2026, at City Park, with vendor setup beginning May 8. The resolution calls for closure of Maple Street for the event and a temporary closure of Laffney Place Saturday morning for vendor load-in; the permit remains conditional pending receipt of a new certificate of insurance listing the city as additional insured.
The board also approved the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls "Brooks Barbecue" for May 2, 2026, in the Eastfield Parking Lot, a drive-in/drive-out event with an estimated attendance of about 700 people; the motion carried by voice vote.
Separately, the board conditionally approved the sixth annual Open Door Mission "Cobble Waddle" scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 26 (setup the same morning), with all signage to be removed by Nov. 27.
Speaker 2 presented the resolution for the 2026 Lower Adirondack Pride Festival to be held June 7 at City Park, with staging beginning noon on June 6 and road closures during setup and teardown. The event holder estimated up to 4,000 attendees; Speaker 4 moved that the festival be accepted conditionally upon providing a proper certificate of insurance listing the city as an additional insured.
