South Lebanon’s City Council on Jan. 15 approved an invoice that includes funds for preliminary engineering and site planning for a future public works facility and discussed a building permit tied to a River Corridor lift station.
Councilmember Brent Bridal Combs moved to approve the invoice; Councilmember Linda Combs seconded the related minutes amendment later in the meeting. During discussion, Tina Williams, director of finance, described the line item identified in the packet as the public works facility design as "engineering services to start looking at a site plan," and said it is part of a capital project budgeted this year. Williams also noted the building permit referenced in the packet is believed to be tied to the new River Corridor lift station at 397 Main Street. "The public works facility design is the future public works facility that we are looking at in the next couple of years of building," Williams said.
Council recorded 'Yay' votes for all members present on the invoice motion. The minutes of the Jan. 6, 2026 meeting were then approved "as spoken with the amendment" after a clerk name/spelling issue was corrected.
The meeting record shows staff said some lighting or permit items may simply require routine fixes (for example, replacing bulbs) but that the public works facility planning work is a capital-project planning step. The council did not take additional legislative action on the public-works project that night; staff said further steps will follow as the capital project advances.
Votes at a glance: the invoice motion carried with affirmative voice votes from the members present; the Jan. 6 minutes were approved with an amendment; the meeting ended after a unanimous vote to adjourn.
The next regular council meeting will be scheduled in keeping with the council’s stated practice; the council discussed but did not vote on formal changes to meeting scheduling and council rules at this session.
