County communications team proposes quarterly magazine 'The Thread Line' to explain services

Lancaster County's communications staff presented a proposal for a quarterly county magazine called The Thread Line that would explain services, projects and decisions in plain language and provide a durable reference for residents.
Miss Woods said the publication is intended to "connect residents to the county services, projects, and people" and to go beyond short social posts by offering storytelling, visuals and explanations. "The Thread Line is what it'll be called, and it's gonna be Lancaster County's quarterly magazine," she said.
Staff proposed print distribution at county buildings and the library, a digital edition, email links to the county list and social‑media teasers. The magazine would include a consistent "need to know" contacts page; council members recommended a dedicated page listing council members, district boundaries and contact information.
Council feedback included offering a single‑sheet council contact page, considering a monthly cadence only if more frequent updates are needed, and using repurposed content for social media. Staff said they will consider the suggestions while holding the publication to plain language and audience focus.
The Thread Line concept is in draft and will return for further editorial decisions and distribution details before publication.
