NEISD honors outgoing superintendent; board approves interim contract and technology appointment

Trustees of the Northeast Independent School District on Tuesday paid tribute to outgoing Superintendent Dr. Micah and approved several personnel moves, including an interim superintendent contract and an executive director of technology services appointment.

Board President David Beyer opened the meeting by welcoming the public and recognizing Dr. Micah's years of service. Multiple speakers, including union and community leaders, offered public thanks and described programs launched during his tenure. "Your presence will have a lasting impact on our schools," one trustee said in remarks honoring the superintendent.

The board moved from the public portion to matters from executive session and brought two personnel items to the floor. Trustees voted to appoint the district's executive director of technology services (motion seconded and approved by roll call) and later approved the interim superintendent contract recommended following executive-session discussions. For both motions the roll-call votes were unanimous, with Trustees recording a 6-0 vote in favor.

Legal and procedural steps were observed during both actions. The president noted the board would hold a roll-call vote for the appointments and read the tally aloud after each vote. "Motion passes 6 to 0," the president declared following the vote on the technology appointment.

Interim superintendent Jarrett took the dais for the remainder of the meeting after the votes, with trustees expressing confidence in his ability to steward district operations during the transition. The board signaled it would continue discussions about next steps for longer-term leadership once an evaluation and search process is completed.

The actions taken are administrative in nature and do not change district policy; they reflect the board's immediate staffing decisions to maintain continuity while leadership plans proceed.
