The Dinwiddie County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved its 2026 meeting schedule and a budget calendar aligned with the FY 2027 process at the Jan. 6 organizational meeting.
County staff presented the proposed calendar: regular workshops will occur the first Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m., and regular business meetings are set for 3:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday. The board voted by roll call to adopt the calendar.
Staff also outlined the FY 2027 budget calendar, noting that the principal departmental and administrative budget workshops are scheduled in March to meet the timing requirements in the Code of Virginia. The board moved to adopt the budget calendar and approved it by unanimous roll call.
During the meeting the county attorney (Speaker 6) conducted the annual oral reading of the board's bylaws and code of ethics, highlighting obligations including upholding laws, avoiding conflicts of interest, not using confidential information for private profit, and conducting public business in the public view except where closed sessions are authorized by state law. The attorney invited members to submit any proposed bylaw changes in writing for future consideration.
No substantive policy measures, appropriations, or ordinance adoptions were considered during the organizational agenda items. The board completed the administrative calendar and ethics review and then moved to other closing business.
