Highland Village plans $10.2 million Highland Shores Boulevard rebuild; Denton County to cover half

Scott Christen, Highland Village public works director, told a Jan. 8 town hall that Highland Shores Boulevard has been identified for reconstruction for 10–15 years and is now nearing design completion.
"Denton County did approve to add that section of Highland Shores Boulevard into their bond package," Christen said, adding the county funding will cover 50% of a proposed $10,200,000 project. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2026, run through 2027 and most of 2028, and will take about two years to complete.
The project is split into three phases. Christen said Phase 1 (an asphalt phase) was reconstructed roughly 10 years ago and restriped for safety and pedestrian access.…
