ACSD 1 approves emergency MPV purchase and awards $759,650 playground resurfacing contract

The Albany County School District #1 Board of Trustees approved two procurement items: an emergency MPV replacement and playground resurfacing at two elementary schools.
District staff described the MPV as a large SUV the district uses in operations and said the vehicle required replacement after engine failure. The Wyoming Department of Education approved 100% funding for the emergency purchase; staff recommended accepting the low bid from Griner Ford of Casper for $63,131. Trustees moved, seconded and approved the bid by voice vote.
Separately, staff reported two bids for playground upgrades and recommended awarding surfacing and turf installation at Indian Paintbrush Elementary and Spring Creek Elementary to Great Western for the low bid of $759,650.35. Trustees asked about price differences between the two sites; staff explained the larger figure reflects different playground sizes and additional hillside/concrete work required at Indian Paintbrush. The board approved that award by voice vote.
Both contracts were accepted as presented; the MPV purchase is funded through WDE emergency purchase approval and the playground work will be scheduled with the awarded contractor.
