At its Jan. 13 meeting the Village of Morton Grove Board adopted several second-reading ordinances affecting tree protection, solar rules, school expansion and a proposed 60-unit subdivision.
Trustee White introduced Ordinance 25-39, an amendment to the municipal code to modify and establish tree preservation and protection regulations; the board approved it on a 5-0 vote. Trustee White then presented Ordinance 25-40 to add regulations governing solar energy collection systems to the Unified Development Code; it passed 5-0.
The board approved Ordinance 25-41, a special use permit to authorize expansion and modification of an existing school at 9000 Belfort Avenue; village staff said the park district, school district and village will coordinate to ensure required trees are planted as part of the approval. Trustees later approved Ordinance 25-42, which accepted a preliminary plat and special use permit with waivers for a proposed 60-unit development at 8500–8550 Lehigh Avenue and a 0.531-acre portion of Chestnut Street, and Ordinance 25-43, which approved the vacation of a portion of Chestnut Street. Both were described as unanimously recommended by the Plan, Traffic and Appearance Commissions and each passed 5-0.
