Board approved the 2026–27 curriculum guide and administrators announced an expanded College Credit Plus partnership with the University of Cincinnati that could allow students to earn near-associate-level credits on Lebanon High School campus while preserving extracurricular participation.
The board approved the district’s 2026–27 curriculum guide and heard an announcement about expanded dual-enrollment opportunities with the University of Cincinnati. Administration said the district qualifies as an official University of Cincinnati location and will offer multiple UC courses taught by district staff. "We'll have enough courses offered next year for students, that they could take, almost an associate's level work, not have to leave campus," the superintendent said.
Officials described how the College Credit Plus model will work on campus and emphasized that credits taken under Ohio’s College Credit Plus law are required to transfer credit-wise within the state when accepted. Administrators said UC will help promote the program and produce materials for families and local employers. They also noted the district absorbs costs for College Credit Plus courses (paying partner institutions for credits), making the program a student-benefit but not a revenue source for the district: "College credit plus costs we lose money as a school district. We get funding for a student, and we have to pay that institution for every 1 of those credits out of our revenue," an administrator said.
A student speaker also addressed a separate policy change approved at final reading: the district removed the formal designation "valedictorian," arguing the change encourages students to take courses that align with interests rather than chasing rank. Board members asked about transferability and access; administrators replied that UC credits will transfer directly to UC and generally transfer within Ohio under the college-credit statute, and that program promotion will follow once course lists and materials are finalized.
Board votes approved both the curriculum guide and the final reading of policy 5430 (removing the valedictorian designation). Administrators said they will coordinate communications and promotional materials with UC and staff.
