County administrator Kevin Massengill introduced the recognition and the county clerk read a citation summarizing Castle’s background, including his participation in revolutionary‑era reenactments, national commemorative events and work teaching riding lessons to local youth. The citation notes that Castle was cast in a role portraying William Billy Lee in the historical film The American Miracle.
Castle accepted the recognition and thanked his family, pastor and community for support. He told the board he began reenacting in 2018 and said his work brings attention to Dinwiddie County and the region.
The board discussed possibilities for showing the film locally and planned a short recess after the ceremony.
