Dinwiddie County supervisors voted on several administrative items and resolutions at their Nov. 18 meeting, approving contract extensions, policy updates and proclamations in a series of largely uncontested roll-call votes.
Votes at a glance
- Delinquent real-estate tax collection (TACS): The board approved a resolution to extend existing work with Taxing Authority Consulting Services (TACS) to include delinquent real-estate tax parcel sales and related legal collection services. Acting for the treasurer, staff said the treasurer had been pleased with TACS' work on personal property collections and recommended expanding the scope; the board approved the resolution by roll call (recorded as all voting aye).
- American Medical Response (AMR) and Hospital to Home (H2H): The board approved a resolution authorizing AMR Mid-Atlantic, Inc., and Hospital to Home to operate inter-facility/private transport services in Dinwiddie County. Staff noted those companies will not provide 911 response within the county unless requested for large incidents, and cited Virginia Administrative Code 12 VAC 5-31-420 as the basis for the resolution; the vote passed (all voting aye).
- Procurement and travel policy revisions: Deputy county administrator Anne Howington presented updates to the purchasing card (p-card) policy and travel/training policy to reflect a change in transaction-processing workflow (move to the Tyler Munis system), tighten documentation timelines (from 15 to 7 days for travel receipts) and clarify disallowed expenses. The board approved both policy updates by roll call (all voting aye).
- Authorization for county attorney on Sackler settlement documents: The board authorized the county attorney to sign necessary documents with the Sackler family related to the Purdue bankruptcy settlement as previously authorized by resolution; the board approved the measure by roll call (all voting aye).
- Proclamation designating Dinwiddie as a Purple Heart County: The board adopted the proclamation honoring veterans and veteran families; the vote was unanimous.
Board members and staff framed these votes as housekeeping and operational: several presenters described the items as extensions or updates to existing agreements and practices rather than new policy directions. Where the board sought more information (for example, the county administrator said he would bring a health-department local-agreement ratification to the December meeting), staff agreed to follow up.
