The application cycle deadline is Feb. 24, 2026; the staff report said design is at about 60% and that the city would seek additional neighborhood input as the design advances.
Vice Mayor Reid raised concerns about narrowing lanes, sight lines at certain intersections and possible blind spots created by on-street parking; he cast the lone no vote. The resolution passed by roll call 4-1. The motion directs staff to prepare the grant application and return to the commission with 60% design details before committing funds.
Next steps: staff will complete the BUILD grant application, continue community outreach, and present 60% design details to commission and CRA boards before final design and any appropriation of the local match.
