The City of Stuart Local Planning Agency elected Dina Peterson as chair and Christina Palmeri as vice chair during its annual board reorganization session.
Board members took oaths of office administered by deputy clerk Sousay and then discussed the customary process for selecting leadership. Deputy clerk Sousay recommended members volunteer before formal nominations so no one would be nominated unwillingly. After asking for volunteers, a motion to elect Dina Peterson as chair was made and seconded; members voted in favor and the motion carried. A separate motion to elect Christina Palmeri as vice chair was also made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Peterson, who described multigenerational ties to the area, said she and her family view Stuart as home. Palmeri said she has lived in the City of Stuart for three years and wants to serve families like hers.
The board adjusted seating after the votes and were reminded to sign official oath documents before leaving. The reorganization concluded before the meeting moved on to the single substantive action item on the agenda.
Next steps: the newly seated chair will preside over subsequent Local Planning Agency meetings and any required follow-up related to organizational procedures.
