Robinson Farmer Cox Associates presented the county's FY25 audit to the Dinwiddie County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 16 and issued an unmodified opinion on the financial statements.
Auditor Aaron Hawkins told the board the county began FY25 with just over $27.0 million in its general fund balance and ended with approximately $29.3 million, an increase of about $2.3 million, and noted most of the ending balance is unassigned and available for county discretion. He also outlined a change in accounting principles related to compensated absences and reported no findings in the county’s internal-control report or in the single-audit federal compliance work.
Following the audit presentation, the board considered an action item to purchase rescue tools and mounting hardware from Air Care Incorporated to outfit a recently acquired used heavy rescue truck. Fire Chief David Kisner said the equipment (battery‑operated Halmatro spreaders, rams, stabilizers and jacks) is necessary for heavy vehicle extrication and everyday rescue response countywide. The board voted unanimously to approve the procurement as presented.
The meeting also included appointment votes: reappointments to the Crater Planning District Commission and to Virginia’s Gateway Region were approved unanimously. The board adopted three recognition resolutions for long‑serving community volunteers earlier in the evening.
Notes and clarifications: the meeting transcript contains a garbled readout of the procurement amount (the clerk read a figure that was not clear in the audio/transcript); county procurement records or the contract packet should be consulted for the exact contract value and appropriation details.
