George (staff) told commissioners the county received two comparable bids and recommended McBride because the trucks use the same make the county runs now, improving parts availability and maintenance uniformity. "The McBride offered a Mac that will fit. That's what we run mostly now," he said.
Commissioner (S3) moved to approve the purchase, and the board voted by roll call in favor. County officials said delivery will take several months and that the new trucks will include current plow boxes and electronics. The vendor noted supply timelines can be lengthy but said the vehicles could be configured for winter operations before deployment.
The county did not state whether any Williamson County-based vendors submitted bids; during discussion staff reported McBride was the only vendor offering the specified configuration. The board recorded the vote and moved on to other business.
