Ridgewood to remove park-and-ride ordinance after state reclaimed Route 17 lot

Manager Keith Kasmark and council members said the village historically maintained the lot (plowing, paving, grounds and some metered spaces) under an agreement with the state but found the arrangement produced little revenue in return for maintenance responsibilities. The state assumed operation roughly five to six years ago and now manages the site, reportedly allowing free parking and performing resurfacing and landscaping improvements.
Because the borough no longer operates the park-and-ride, staff recommended removing the obsolete ordinance from the village code to reflect the state's jurisdiction and the improved condition of the site. Council members asked for background; staff provided the history and said the rescission is a cleanup of code rather than a policy change affecting current operations.
