Newberg Traffic Safety Commission elects Roger Coleman chair, Russell Johnson vice chair

Roger Coleman was elected chair of the Newberg Traffic Safety Commission at the start of the meeting after he nominated himself and received a second.
Brett Musick, the city's senior engineer and staff liaison, opened nominations and explained the roles of chair and vice chair, saying the chair —is to preside at meetings and has input on the agenda— and the vice chair is —the secondary role to fill in if the chair is absent.—
After Coleman's self-nomination, commissioners moved and seconded the nomination and approved it by voice vote. Coleman then opened nominations for vice chair and Roger Coleman nominated Russell Johnson; Johnson consented and the commission approved the vice-chair nomination by voice vote.
The commission conducted both elections by voice vote; staff recorded the outcome as approved and handed meeting duties to Chair Coleman for the remainder of the session.
The officer changes are effective immediately; the commission's next regular meeting is scheduled for May 11 at 6 p.m. and the new leadership will preside.
