The Coos County Board of Commissioners opened its first meeting of the year by electing leadership and confirming organizational roles. A nomination for Commissioner Farmer to serve as chair was seconded and approved by voice vote; the board later nominated and approved Commissioner Taylor as vice chair. The board voted to retain current liaison assignments for the coming year.
A late agenda item led to the appointment of Dwayne Drake to the Coos County Fair Board; commissioners said the pick followed consideration of three candidates and acknowledged the strong pool of applicants. One commissioner publicly thanked an IT staffer for years of service to the fair.
The board approved the consent calendar, including the late item, and moved on to regular business.
