The West Bend City Tourism Commission on Jan. 13 approved its financial report for the 2025 cash year while noting year-end accounting remains incomplete and fourth-quarter room tax receipts were not yet recorded.
Speaker 1 presented the report and said the top-line item looks nearly $25,000 short on a cash basis because fourth-quarter room tax collections and year-end close-out are not included. “Our books are still not closed out even though 2025 is over,” Speaker 1 said. The report lists an undesignated fund balance of $587,000.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about fourth-quarter collections and whether hotels are consistently at capacity; Speaker 3 and Speaker 4 exchanged views that capacity varies by property and that the community may be more in need of a conference center than an additional hotel.
The commission moved and seconded approval of the financial report and the chair declared the motion carried. The transcript records affirmative “Aye” votes but does not include a roll-call tally.
