The Lancaster ISD board returned from closed session and took several personnel actions.
District leadership presented Cherish Pipkins as the recommended candidate for executive director of human resources. "I present to you, Mrs. Cherish Pipkins as the candidate for executive director of human resources," a presenting official said. Trustee Jones moved to accept the recommendation and Trustee Smith seconded; the chair announced the motion "carried unanimously." Pipkins accepted the role and thanked the board.
The board also approved the appointment of Steven Jackson as head football coach and assistant athletic director. Vice President Nichols moved the recommendation and Trustee Cortez seconded; the board approved the hire unanimously.
On other closed-session action items, the board voted to accept the superintendent's evaluation for the 2024-25 school year and later voted to approve a fifth addendum to the superintendent's contract; both actions were announced as carried unanimously.
Votes recorded in the transcript were announced as unanimous and recorded by the board secretary; the transcript did not provide an individual roll-call tally for each name. The board's announcements indicated motions, seconds and unanimous approval for these personnel and contract items.
Next steps: the new hires will assume their duties as described in district procedures; contract documents and evaluation records will be filed per district practice.
