A public hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 17, 2026, to consider vacating portions of Redstone Drive, Waterfront Drive and associated public utilities in Waterfront Subdivision Phase 1, county staff told commissioners.
Daniel Williamson, who read the notice at the Jan. 13 meeting, said the area highlighted on the map was the portion the owner requested to be vacated. "There's a notice of public hearing ... being held 02/17/2026 with purpose of vacating portions of Redstone Drive, Waterfront Drive, and public utilities, dedicated to this part of Waterfront Subdivision Phase 1," Williamson said during the meeting.
Staff clarified the subdivision location and sign-up procedures for the public hearing and said materials will be forwarded to commissioners in advance. No formal motion or vote on the vacation was taken at the meeting; the hearing will provide an opportunity for public comment and a subsequent decision by the county commissioners.
Background: staff noted the request came from the property owner and displayed the impacted area on the meeting map. The matter was announced as an agenda item and will be taken up at the advertised Feb. 17 hearing. The county did not provide additional details about alternatives, compensation, or recommended findings at the Jan. 13 meeting.
