Gonzales adopts 2025 California building codes and related standards

The ordinance replaces chapter 11.04 of the Gonzales City Code and adopts by reference the 2025 edition of the California Building Standards Code (including specified parts and appendices), the 2024 International Property Maintenance Code and the 1997 Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, subject to the exceptions noted in the ordinance text.
The council opened a public hearing and solicited comments; no in-person, Zoom or email comments were received. After council discussion a motion to waive the second reading and adopt Ordinance 2025-154 was moved and seconded and the council voted to adopt the ordinance unanimously.
The ordinance will be published according to municipal code rules; staff did not record any implementation amendments or exceptions during the meeting.
