Students describe life-changing gains as Job Corps program stays in federal budget

Student Samuel Taylor said he arrived with no credits and has since completed high school, trade certification and became student‑government president; “I just want to have Job Corps Day even after I leave,” he told the board. Nicholas (Nick) Duncan described graduation from high school and accelerated electrical training that led to an opportunity for advanced lineman training.
Staff and commissioners praised the program’s outcomes and noted federal budget developments that restored funding after a brief pause. Commissioners offered appreciation and applause and took a photo with the students.
