Kingsford Heights council adopts non-reverting park donation fund

Kingsford Heights’ Town Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 2025-015 on Jan. 12, establishing a non-reverting park donation fund intended to hold gifts and donations earmarked for park operations and improvements.
Council members completed the ordinance’s third and final reading and voted in favor of creating the fund. Town officials said the fund currently carries no appropriated dollars but will allow the town to accept donations and consider appropriations to support park projects in future budgets.
Town residents in attendance asked clarifying questions about whether any money was already in the account; a parks representative said there were no dollars in the fund at present but that the fund will be available for next year’s budget or for supplemental appropriations. The council noted that establishing the non-reverting account separates donated park funds from annual operating revenue and preserves those donations for park-related uses.
The ordinance took effect upon adoption, and town staff said they will track and report any donations in future budget documents and departmental reports.
