County commissioners show speed-enforcement trailer for school zones, say it can document violations

"If it saves 1 life... I'd buy 10 of them," Alexander told the board, arguing the device provides evidence that neighborhood complaints previously lacked. He said the trailer allows the county to trace who sped and to document that enforcement resources are needed.
Board members thanked the commissioners and discussed whether the Melrose Historical Society might be able to accept or move the historic Melrose building; commissioners and staff agreed to ask about possibilities, though staff expressed skepticism about whether the structure could be moved.
Next steps: commissioners will coordinate with district staff on deployment in school zones as needed; the trailer is intended as an enforcement and data-collection tool, not an automatic citation device.
