The comprehensive literacy update highlighted a first‑grade pilot of a unit‑based, multi‑text approach aligned to the science of reading, with decodable readers and scaffolded writing tasks. District leaders outlined next steps: vendor presentations after winter break, pilots for middle‑school social studies aligned to new Minnesota standards, continued teacher coaching and Science of Reading training in the coming year.
Board members asked how summative assessments will be used to measure student mastery and how the district will ensure coherence across grades; presenters said PLC work and planned data review will inform targets and instructional supports.
